The Ashramshala run by the Indian Institute of Research and Development of nomadic and de-notified tribes;provides free education, accommodation & all other basic necessities to the more than 1000 children of Nomadic and De-notified Tribes who are totally dispossessed and alienated from the main stream of our Indian society. For feeding these under privileged children the trust collects 500 to 600 bags of grain from the nearby villages around each year. The readers of UPARA and other well-wishers also.
The Institute has conducted an in depth research on 14 De-notified tribes in Maharashtra and the same was published by Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai in 1997. This valuable research document was released at the hands of the former Prime Minister Shri. H.D.Devegouda on 12th March 1997. Currently a study has been under taken with the help of Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai. On the Nomadic tribes in the state of Maharashtra
Aayu. Laxman Mane was born & brought up in Kaikadi tribe. His life was suffered due to depressed socio economic status of his community. To enhance the status of these suppressed people; he has taken footstep of converting himself to Buddhism by inspiration of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar on 2nd day of October 2007. He led the rare massive conversion movement nearly about 7 lacks people from 42 different Nomadic & De-notified tribes had embraced Buddhism under his leadership on 27th May 2007. This was an important achievement, which
has enlightened the lives of these depressed masses.
